When we moved to our house I planted a silver Birch in the kitchen garden in front of the stables and over 34 years its grown and I’ve wondered at its beauty … but its roots prevented vegetable growing in the top three raised beds. So today my tree surgeon son cut it down…our family is truly saddened and its a kind of grieving – I hate the cutting down of trees in these times!
