i feel that someone, some thing has died,
mourn here in the covers.
i do not feel so great, again today.
i wanted to be european.

That the leavers
Are global warming deniers
And believe the earth is flat
So that’s the appeal
To reject experts advice
Fit facts to beliefs
Reject anything
Inconvenient
That somehow doesn’t fit
Into your flat world
So out with the new
And back with the old
Meanwhile the earth burns.

A hidden stream runs deep
through the soil under this town.
There is the river, of course
churning through its channelled
constricted structured way.
But there is another web
of hidden streams
a ream of unwritten rivulets
that oozes in silence
beneath the stones and roadways

he vowed to thee, loved thee.
now he wishes he was some where

Stormy weather ahead
A gale blowing
And angry seas
The captains
left the bridge
in a sulk
the mutineers
want to steer
this listing hulk
but those men
have they integrity?
I didn’t vote
For silence
Or closed minds.
Breaking news!
No lifeboats
On this ship
At least
not for me
or you, or mine
I’ll not resign
For this fate
Anyone else
Up for a fight?

A dark blue shawl
The evenings grow
dark and cold
even though
its midsummer
So I gather
an Ethiopian shawl
round my shoulders.
I feel weariness strain
in my neck and arms
and the need to rest
But the struggle continues
to keep this openness
to listen and hear
and remember
what we learned
from a different
people and place
that will remain
forever close
to my heart.
