So there is blood upon the street. Hatred’s vein has slit a servant, vented its bile onto black tarmac. As the gimlet eyed ring master, taking lessons from the fuhrer, unveils his identikit Nazi ca…
Murder of a stranger
The murder of a stranger
Out early this morning
Unable to listen to much more of the news
On the radio
Played Bach Sonatas instead
This place is not worse
Following you’re going or the way you left
It may be better
I have my doubts about it
Time will tell is the saying
But it’s the hate just below the surface
That bothers me most
The lack of compassion
I think of those two small children
And the man you loved abandoned and lost
I wish them kindness
For the present the future as well.

Compassion
For all people who work with compassion to make the burden easier and gives so much of themselves!
Walking

Walking
At a time
When the news
Is too dark
A feeling
Of despair
Of loss
I need
To get out
Walk the hills
In clean air
Let thoughts roll
Mind still
Feel my legs
My body
At ease
Let each wave
Of sadness
Run clear.

Storms gather

Storms gather
I watched
the gathering
storm
approach
The deepness
of grey
turning
near black
The fluttering
of aspen leaves
the insects caught
in updrafts
it is just
a matter
of time
waiting.
Mysteries and messages

Mysteries and messages
This week over a few days
Docks loosen their grip
And will allow themselves
To be pulled roots and all
You and I disagreed
In our views on religion
So we agreed not to talk
You respected my knowledge
On growing and gardening
You embraced cosmic forces
And the movement of planets
And the hidden influence of stars
But we both took pleasure
Sometimes surprised by nature’s way
And the complex beauty of a flower
Or the shape of a trees repose.

Openings within openings

A theatre space that doesn’t know it…yet

Divisions beneath

This where people live.
Walking in rain
Walking in rain
I put on
that old
light brown
Fedora hat
to walk out
in the rain.
A hat
that’s worn
from use
stained
on the brim
but fits
as it sits
over
my brow.
I prefer hats
to hoods
better to see
and to hear
what surrounds
than enveloped
in plastic
that baffles
the senses
Reminds me.
A word
to the wise
I’m proud
of my skin.
It speaks
of experience
a certain
amount
of knowledge
built up
over years.
Kindness too.
Wisdom
sometimes.
