Walking in rain
I put on
that old
light brown
Fedora hat
to walk out
in the rain.
A hat
that’s worn
from use
stained
on the brim
but fits
as it sits
over
my brow.
I prefer hats
to hoods
better to see
and to hear
what surrounds
than enveloped
in plastic
that baffles
the senses
Reminds me.
A word
to the wise
I’m proud
of my skin.
It speaks
of experience
a certain
amount
of knowledge
built up
over years.
Kindness too.
Wisdom
sometimes.
